So what is a “featured image” exactly?
If your WordPress site uses any of the following: excerpts with thumbnails, a post slideshow, a thumbnail display of posts (whether it be on your home page or a popular posts widget), you’re familiar with the importance of the “featured image”!
If a Featured Image is not selected for a WordPress post, it will not display a pretty thumbnail for your post or an image for your slideshow. Luckily, adding in an image for this is super easy! When editing your post, simply scroll down and you will see the area to add/remove/change a Featured Image on the right side.
But if you’re anything like me, you constantly forget to add a Featured Image to your posts (whoops!). Luckily, there is an awesome plugin you can install that takes care of it for you. Easy Add Thumbnail will automatically set the first image you upload to a post as your Featured Image. Easy peasy! And of course, if it grabs an image that you’d rather not be featured, you can always change it to any image you like when editing your post.
